The Venezuelan-American musician and visual artist Devendra Banhart is back in Spain as part of his new tour to present his latest studio album Flying Wig. His concert in Madrid will take place on 10 November at the IFEMA Municipal Palace where his latest songs can be heard, including Twin, the first single on the album.
Devendra Banhart, whose mother is Venezuelan and father American, is a musician, singer-songwriter and visual artist with a unique musical style that combines indie with folk, rock and psychedelic pop. The artist has a career spanning over twenty years under his belt, in which he has released twelve albums.
His first albums were released on New York's Young God Records and the full band that accompanies Banhart on his recordings and concerts goes by the name of Power Mineral (among other names) and is made up of Andy Cabic, Otto Hauser, Nick Castro, Kevin Barker, Noah Georgeson, Luckey Remington and Pete Newsom. Among his most popular tracks is Carmensita, included in the album Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon (2007), whose video clip became very popular thanks to the presence of the actress Natalie Portman.
Now, the musician is presenting his latest album Flying Wig, produced by the singer, Cate Le Bon. In this album, Devendra shows a darker and more fragile side than ever before. It is a landscape of recurring dualities; a can of paradoxes, a box of worms. The first single on the album is Twins, which was presented with a video directed by the film-maker Matt Muir and is joined by other songs, such as Fireflies, Sirens or May.
